Love Me - New York City
A graffiti painted building on Canal Street
New York City : Times Square Look Up
This is another shot of some converging verticals in Times Square. I like this because of the Ricoh logo which is sort of hidden. It draws your eyes away from the insulin pen ad.
New York City : St Patrick's Cathedral Entrance
This is the entrance way into St. Patricks Cathedral. I was trying to keep the main security guard still while allowing others to walk by and blur. Oddly enough the guy in the red jacket looks similar to me.
New York City : W. R. Grace Building from Bryant Park
This is a picture of the W. R. Grace Building taken from inside Bryant Park in NYC.
New York City : Late for Work
This lady looked to be wearing the worlds most uncomfortable boots. However she was making a mad dash to her connection.
New York City : Bakerstreet Saxophone
Saxophonist blowing his lungs out in a NYC subway terminal.
New York City : Connection
Im still not sure what bridge this is. It can be seen while traversing on the Ferry.
New York City : Statue of Liberty
You cannot goto NYC and not take a photo of the Statue of Liberty. This one was taken the good ole fashion way, free via The Staten Island Ferry.
New York City : Apple Store
Apparently the Glass entrance to the Apple store in New York is one of the most photographed things in NYC. I hate this because I wanted to capture the front but its such a cliche shot nowadays. I decided to take this picture last moment inside the elevator as I was leaving the store. I looked up and saw this interesting angle.
New York City : Breakdancing One Hand
Another shot of the break-dancers.
New York City : Breakdancing Kid
We came across some break-dancers in Times Square. This kid stole the show and was amazing. He started his routine with a Moon Walk around the crowd.
New York City : Help!
We saw this lady screaming and crawling across the ground in front of a porno shop. I assume she was on drugs as the words coming out of her mouth were unrecognizable.
New York City : Noah and The Whale
This is the giant whale which is on exhibition in New York City's Natural History Museum. This thing is huge. Below the whale that day the staff was setting up for an upcoming wedding.
New York City : Blind Musician
There is a ton of awesome musicians that play in the subway terminals in NYC. This picture is of a blind man playing a Erhu. The Erhu is a two-stringed bowed instrument originating in China over a thousand years ago and is known in the West as the "Chinese violin".
New York City : Hotel Metro
This is Hotel Metro. It was right next to the hotel that I was staying at. One night the rain was pouring down and the red light was really making a nice reflection through it. Although this image was pushed quite a bit and you can see some digital noise, I still like it quite a bit.
New York City : Empire State Building at Night With Fog
This shot was actually taken from the window of my hotel. My mother and I both stood at the window trying to get nice shots through the glass. The fog added a nice dramatic touch to the scene.
New York City : Desigual Store at Night
This building is super sharp! Although its not as cool looking in the day, at night time its the focus of the block. Desigual is a clothing store that features a lot of recycled cottons etc. While its an awesome looking store, the prices are a bit steep.
This was also a tough exposure to grab. I dragged the shutter and had to stand super still to get the building sharp.
New York City : Subway Sleeper
This is a photo of a misfortunate gentleman sleeping in one of the subway stations. I feel quite bad as there are a number of similar situations in New York.
New York City : 47th - 50th Subway Rockafellar Center
We ended up taking this subway every day, more then once. Subways are definitely the best way to travel in NYC. Each station has its own unique characteristics.
New York City : Night Rush
My favourite thing about New York City is definitely the night lights. Combine these lights with a warm mist from an after rain and it reflects some awesome shades and tones. I had originally taken this shot without the walking couple however it lacked elements so I waited for a few people to cross the street.
New York City : Long Day
Im surprised I even got this shot. I had been attempting to shoot from the hip on the subway. To get enough light I had to drag the shutter and on a moving subway its hard to get good focus. I also had to shoot during sudden loud noise periods to hide my shutter sound. I like shooting incognito.
New York City : Subway Zoom
This picture was taken down on the 57th street
subway during the morning rush hour. I dragged the shutter to a 1/30th to get some blur and some more light.
New York City : The Haier Building at night
This is a picture of the Haier Building in New York City at nighttime. The name, The Haier Building, is inscribed in gold letters that are visible even in the dark, or the rain, thanks to six lights shining down upon them. It was originally The Greenwich Savings Bank building.
Inside, limestone, sandstone, and steel serve as backdrops for inscriptions of Minerva and Mercury, representing wisdom and commerce, respectively. A dome tops off the structure, which spans 36th Street from Broadway to Sixth Avenue. It’s located at 1136 Broadway.
New York City : Empire State Building
This is a picture of The Empire State Building at night in the fog. The Empire State Building is a 102-story landmark skyscraper and American cultural icon in New York City at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street.
It has a roof height of 1,250 feet (381 meters), and with its antenna spire included, it stands a total of 1,454 ft (443.2 m) high. Its name is derived from the nickname for New York, the Empire State.
