Saint Martin’s Trees – New Brunswick

By January 16, 2014photographs

This is a shot I took last year during the end of winter. It was a commissioned shot for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick’s annual directory. You will notice the landscape horizon slopes as the trees are on a slight incline. I didn’t expect to take this exact photo however when I was driving by this scene really caught my eye. The deep tree shadows is what really brought me in. Since the sun was facing the camera it created long deep shadows. Also the contrast between the highlight and shadow colors is awesome. It was a bit difficult to hold the highlights but managed by underexposing and bringing the shadows up in post. Film might have held these highlights a tad bit better however the camera I was using at that time (5dmkii) did quite an acceptable job.
